Our students are at the front line, but not as the hero’s or the victors. They are the shields to protect those that hold them captive and broken.
Captive to a slave driver called “free education” that tells them its important, but misguides them on a daily bases.
Bring back the schools that taught more than grammar, but life skills to develop exploration into determination and struggle into triumph.
Now all I see is defeat harboring defeat, that leads to dreams unfulfilled and destiny’s ruined like the generation old textbooks that still education those today. Sad.
Common core is suppose to be my road map for success, but has still left me three grade levels back in Reading, Math, and Writing yet I pass to the next grade unprepared and confused because “No Child Left Behind” says that I should be moved on to stay behind and become a terror and educationally useless.
Your dream is for excellent schools and my dream is to somehow find a way to compete with my peers educationally, but yet I’m nowhere near prepared to even understand who I want to be. Future! No so bright!
Teachers made overnight without understanding of the workings of the classroom, but because I want to teach today I’m provided a job to mold minds and shape the future; yet I have no clue on education as the educator. I myself thought that education was useless, but I teach.
Teachers who didn’t obtain a degree in education, but fell into this profession, yet have the nerve to fail students for failing to comply to your classroom regulations.
Confused. Breed teachers who have the passion to work as compassionate leaders of a generation that will later be the leaders of the new world and build on the success that is already existing. Our classrooms have become sweatshops that build mirror image products that become stamped approved by the system.
No… We have students to blame for not being prepared to take their education serious, but we have teachers and systems unprepared to educate the new aged student. Suspending kids for cell phones when a cell phone is technology and when used properly could help a student struggling in Literacy improve his success after downloading an app that inspires.
Students who fail because the school doesn’t understand that social emotional needs are just as important as my educational success.
Criticized for not being clean and tardy, but not understanding that I’m responsible for my siblings and parents care. I work odd jobs to pay for lights and can’t worry about Nike and Polo because survival is all I hope for.
Classified because I score below average never realizing that I have the intellect, but your class is boring so I dumb myself down out of frustration and neglect.
Not given a chance because I’m from Camden, so I will only be a statistic or a crime scene that never deserved a chance at a quality education because of what the system thinks of my past.
Teach me and stop worrying about your 15 and 30 reward and instead help me achieve the ultimate reward of a high school diploma integrated with love, quality, and excellence.
Remove these kids from the battle of government and policy and simply TEACH.
Hire great teachers who want to inspire and not just acquire a desire of better benefits and paid summers off.
Just TEACH and REACH and stop PREACHING these polices that mean nothing to me. IMPEACH these leaders who BLEACH these systems into believing that a school is a school and public schools are cruel. Stop with the SPEECHES that don’t quite reach us and the OUTREACH of free favors that serve as mind manipulators. JUST TEACH!
