Direction.
I could be telling my age, but do you remember the days before GPS and interactive navigation systems? The days when directions were paper based and you hoped and prayed that you got to your destination without getting lost. Now we rely on a app that tells us when to turn right at the next light, signals us when traffic is approaching, and provides us a new route to follow either delaying or decreasing our time of arrival. Yet we trust in this system, but fail to trust in the direction of God. We have been so spoiled that we forgot that he is the master of direction and doesn’t always take us to our planned destination, but to the one he sees purposeful for our lives.
I’ve been guilty of trying to lead God. Having him follow my directions, but forgetting the plan has already been made. Ignoring my personal tour guide and accepting the delays and traffic that might not get me to where I want to be by a man-made time, has left me lost. I have taken shortcuts that have set me back to my start point. I have ignored Gods warning signs and made pit stops in relationships and situations that weren’t on my list of tourist attractions. All the time delaying my own journey and placing a deafening ear to Gods voice. He says stay the course and like a fool, I deviate from it. Speeding through stop signs, making the wrong turns, and God activating my breaks when I can’t take no more. Stopping me so that I can open my eyes and realize that he leads my direction and knows the path I should be on.
As believers, it is our duty to be passengers on this journey. Carefully following directions and staying on course. Being obedient to the plan and never questioning the pace. The best direction comes from God, because when the barriers approach he knows how to navigate us through them. He gives the peace to endure the traffic jams and the insurance to help us move along after the fender benders. His warranty is 100% guaranteed and the fine print is legible:
I will never leave you or forsake you. Heb. 13:5
Proceed with vision and take heed to the stop signs. Use your turning signals to alert others of your direction and always stop at the red lights. Put your car on cruise control and steer with faith and trust that Gods directions are secure and without hast.
