The Philadelphia Eagles Life Lesson
There is a lesson to be learned from the Philadelphia Eagles surprise win on Sunday. The lesson is that underdogs should never be overlooked and patience is definitely vital to the success of any individual, team, or purpose. As many triumph over the Eagles win (not me) their story of fight and flight should not be unheard. It took the various changes in coaches, talent, and desire to get the birds where they are today; a seat at the Superbowl table. Now I am no sportscaster or football buff, but I do realize a Cinderella story when I see one. This is a story with a silver lining and a meaning to transcend with the ages. The Eagles are now the NFC champs and headed to the biggest game of the teams lives.
The Eagles have waited years for the opportunity to take the crown as the best football program in America and with that goes a lot of respect. The Eagles have been called many names due to their inconsistency with winning. One thing we must call them is eager champions. From their win, I now understand that a goal isn’t always fulfilled within the first year of conception. Most times it take years for the goal to grow and yield the fruit of the labor put into it. This wait provides one with a story to tell of how dedication, patience, and trust can collectedly help any dream become a reality. The Philadelphia Eagles have achieved unexpected success, especially after obscurity, neglect, and misery to their program. The program itself never stopped focusing on the goal of a Superbowl trip, because they knew one day it would all come true. The next step is for the Eagles to seal the deal.
Goals are never over because they aren’t achieved during the first or second years. It takes a lot of work, changing of the plan, and persistence along the journey. When the goal is important the fight is much harder. Sometimes it takes years for it all to manifest itself true. So today and until the Superbowl, I will sing:
