My “Black Panther” Experience.

I am still sitting on the edge of my seat (well my bed) intrigued by what I just witnessed. As I anxiously waited to see was going to rock my world; I didn’t think that it would leave me stuck. Yes stuck with a strong essence of #BlackBoyJoy and #fortheculture greatness that left me home researching Wakanda; being so sure that Kings, Queens, and a Women lead armies really exist there.

black pantherBlack Panther was a very necessary and poised depiction of Black Excellence at it’s best. It proved the already known, that their is constant denial of royalty, magic, excellence, beauty, power, (you get the rest) really does exist and always has. It boldly states that it has been stolen and destroyed in a way that puts stolen bodies against those that still walk the streets of the motherland. The battle between Africans and African Americans that has initiated itself through inner racial disconnect of Black people. Perceptions rooted in all the negative things we’ve been taught about each other. Taught by those corrupt hands who took us from freedom and cause a rift in our family tide. Like a panther the movie uses courage and grace to educate this nation while giving you a action packed ride of betrayal, loyalty, and oneness during difficult times. It rights the wrongs to the stereotypes that so many have believed about a culture that America and the majority of the world deem as deprived and unnecessary. Black Panther uncovers the truth and exposes the significant rawness of the true African experience. It’s a call to duty for not only my Blackness, but for the world. Its a prime example of how Black culture constantly blazes the trails of remarkable existence.

Black Panther has a lot of smart style that I myself need, no most have! My people were adorned in modern culture expressions of how traditional outfits meet today’s forward fashion These bright colors, caramel and chocolate skin tones, and confidence were not only displayed on the screen, but on the people who sat and watched a movie to marvel any representation of a superhero. Black Panther is our superman, so we came to show out. Dressed in Dashikis, expressions of Black love, and just our everyday greatness; it was like a trip back to the motherland. It was a time to unite as we experience the greatness our heritage on the silver screen. It proved that although a superhero, man is just a man fighting for his legacy and honor when stripped of his powers and heroic must haves. I found that Black Panther used being a man “Black” as his supernatural ability to combat physical and mental battles. BP_master-1

Now, I don’t know where you were tonight or what your plans are this weekend, but I encourage you to witness the beauty of “Black Panther”. It was epic and worth every minute I sat in awe of the richness and substance of Black people…..my Black people.  I still sit in amazement that there is finally a positive superhero…Black…that looks like me….thinks like me…. sees what I see…and will protect the legacy of his people like we all rise every to do.
