You know we teach children at an early age to celebrate being happy to show the world what it looks like to be really happy. Yet, we fail at really letting them know what it means to be confidently happy without fear of being who you are or doing what you want. As former children we were happy. Happy living life with no real obligations, but imaginative play, living for free, and endless summer days of continuous play. Now being happy for some consist of plan free Fridays and sleep in Saturdays. Is that really happiness? Does that sound like the joy of living? I would have to argue this point and say NO!
I dared to know my happiness status. I wanted to know if I only felt happy when the question was asked to appear put together or was I really mentally and physically happy. So I took a quiz or two. I wanted to validate my happiness with a score. Funny thing is I already knew my results, because I knew I wasn’t completely happy. No. I was surface happy. Happy when asked, but not happy when I sat down and really did the work.
You see.. happy isn’t just a emotion we teach children and accompany with a smile. It’s not just a temporary feeling overshadowed by materialistic living. It’s a valid feeling that expresses that one is secure with the life they are living and that they are doing exactly everything they want to make all their dreams come true. It is an inner satisfaction of living. It’s the ultimate characteristic of being. Happy!
So I ask you….yes you? Are you happy? Are you sure about your happiness or our you answering the question with a yes; ignoring your true feelings of the state of being you currently resist in. It’s alright to not be happy, but it’s not alright to do nothing about changing your emotional state of residence. It can be done.
Below are the two Happiness Quizzes that I took. I was surprised by the results, but I know that I am not totally happy. I need to do more to honestly and completely express that I AM HAPPY. Next time you see me and ask me if I am happy. I will have to be honest and say I am in progress towards happy. I will no longer take my happiness for granted.
