Silence: The best soundtrack known to man

Many might call it abandoning, while others might say “he’s just busy”. Neither of the two are true. I have intentionally decided to stop, pause myself, and listen to the silence of my thoughts, voice, and the voices of others. I know you might be questioning yourself, “How can I listen to silence, it has no voice”, but it does and it speaks loud and clear.

On a daily basis we are introduced to the many soundtracks of others; voices without melodies that tell us what’s right or wrong about views on life. Most of the time their soundtrack doesn’t quite fit the story of your purpose and destiny, but we face the music and buy into the hype. Like many I forgot that I had options to silence my space and free myself from what I didn’t want to hear or needed to hear to move me forward. I too was so use to playing everyone’s soundtrack that life began to sound like a clash of instruments, playing different genres of music, without the option to control it. That was the worst noise ever. I had lost my position as conductor to my own symphony called life.

I remember that like the iPod, I have those same options of play, pause, stop, skip, etc. I didn’t have to waste time listening and I could move along if the content of the soundtrack wasn’t what I needed at the time. I would soon have the freedom to silence the world and listen to the amazing melavira-fre-antivirus-how-to-turn-off-the-sound-of-removing-virus-1ody of nothingness. The clear flow of thoughts, the realization of beauty, and the ability to calm myself without mezzo-alto voices, monotone phrases,  and obbligato songs that I deem useless. I was able to hear the true music of life: silence.

Taking a break in silence has allowed me to:

  • Reduce the amount of stress I consumed
  • Heighten my focus on my own voice
  • Refresh my soul
  • Elevate my mood
  • Regain my freedom to create what I want, when I want to
  • Understand the consciousness of my own voice. The only voice that matters

Through embracing the silence of life, I have learned that it is a necessity to accept and find beauty in silence. This process begins to breathe life and spring new meaning. Silence the world and turn on your playlist.
