News media has been a buzz with the news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to pull back from their senior level responsibilities as Royals. They are simply giving it up to start a new life, their way. Well what does the Queen think? How does the Royal Family feel? According to various sources the Queen and Royals are not pleased by their decision and most are calling them “spoiled brats”. Wow! Now one has to be deemed a brat for choosing to live life outside of society norms and expected behavior. This is what we experience each and every time someone tells us that living out our dreams is abandonment of the vision “they” have formed for us. They would rather you step back then watch you set yourself up for the life you expect. It seems like a big setup to me.
My opinion: I am excited that Prince Harry and Meghan have decided to place self before policy and norms. They have made a conscious decision to remove self from a life of paparazzi, rumors, and criticism. Who knows the terrors and secrets of being Royal has on them on a day to day basis. Maybe being a Royal was never Harry’s ideal self. I can bet that Meghan fell in love with the man and not the lifestyle. At the end of the day….it is simply their decision to do what is first best for them as individuals and second as a family unit.

The social media tirade against Harry and Meghan has become a bit ridiculous. Are we now going to unfriend and block the Royals who just a second ago we couldn’t get enough of? This is the way of the social media world. What is hot one day could be super chilly on another. With it all being simply based off perception and ones attitude towards YOUR decision. Why don’t we celebrate their decision to be individuals and their need to bring a piece of royalty to the States. Why are we so angry with their decisions when we too have the power to change our own destiny’s. If only we as much effort into our decision as we do criticizing others – we too could be very happy living life on our own terms.
The woke, somewhat humorless and very entitled Harry we see before us now is almost unrecognizable as the rumbustious fellow we knew and loved.
British Columnist Sarah Vine
My Dear Sarah Vine, Harry is no longer that man we are use to seeing. The one mooning cameras and partying in Las Vegas. He is a man of his family and one who understands the importance of his platform. He values his decision to choose and for that we should not be judgmental.
At the end of the day, Harry will continue to be a Royal and he will always stand for issues bigger than self. He now has a beautiful counterpart who too fights for the little man; instead of bragging about the china at her tea parties. I call them the “Woke AF” Royals – ones who understand the universal importance of their title and want to help others not just in England, but around the world. Let’s applaud this couple for showing us that life isn’t pre-set for us, but designed for us to set ourselves up to live our best life.
Now that’s what I call a SETUP!
