And the Moon Man goes too….Another music awards show that showcases the music abilities and creative expressions of others has been a major disappointment. I have seen more gimmicks than talent and more sexually motivated performances than the Playboy channel. No I don’t watch, but I’m just saying. Also who did Kim K pay to have her face plastered on the screen before, during, and after every performance. She’s not an artist people, just married to one.
Now on to the music or lack there of. Music has really took a turn for the worse. There is no message to the lyrics that these proclaimed songbirds encourage us to purchase instead of download for free. I see why free downloads are so successful, because music isn’t music any more. Artist are just artist and lack the musicianship that once was something to admire. Vocal ability was honored and being able to dance at the same time was simply amazing. These days the lip sync is real and the dance is more valuable than the voice. We praise the less talented and critique the gifted. Rihanna, Nicki, and Kanye are praised for the silliness and their cockiness, while Jazmine, Jill, and John sing songs that touch the soul with voices that smooth the ears, but struggle to even be played. Music is destructive and not the peace agent that use to bring the world together. Instead we encourage the kids to @#$% up some commas and work work work – not at work, but in the bedroom….where have we gone wrong? Music now please! Kanye says we are the influence and the thought changers, but your influence was Teanna Taylor in a soft porn like music video. I’m disgusted and her talent is far to amazing to settle for what it was used for on the main stage.
Stand on your music like a platform to discuss the real issues and not the foolery of your imagery. We use the music to promote sex, money, and drugs. What a waste! We forget that there is an impressionable generation that follows by your example that tells them to be cool instead of in school and beauty is more important than natural talent. Music you still disgust me.
Now don’t get me wrong I love a good beat and catchy hook, but we need more than the “diddy bop” and “twerk”. We need the leave it on the track music that speaks of a persons most venerable moments and an anthem that will heal this nation.
