The Power of Starting Over

Life is what you make it, so why not live it according to your own rules. Developing your own directions and constructing your own road map is essential to realizing who you are and what youreset want. Being in control helps one to know the path and what it takes to travel it through. It’s a way of building a newness towards living and the life you painted for yourself. Many of us at times forget that we have the power to start over and begin again. The feeling of something new is desirable and catapults one closer to obtain the dream they vision, so why the hesitation towards starting over.  We must remember that every plan needs revision and every goal started as a working document and was edited several times before it was obtained. Starting over is POWERFUL!

Life is supposed to be lived, but why do we subject ourselves to standards and rules that persuade us to be cookie cutter copies of normalcy. Think about it? Would you be a different you if you were in total control of your life. I would go out on a limb and say no. We have become prisoner to what was is and shall always be…the same. Yet we don’t seek the opportunity to develop in isolation or use what we have to construct our own paths. We tend to depend on norms and ideas that persuade us to be like this or like that. Life has decreased our need to fly free and use what we have learned on the journey to create, delete, and recreate our path. We’ve learned to look, copy/paste, struggle, and adapt. That’s no way of living that’s a way of living in the “norm”. Start Over!

So why the fear? Different is scary and change equals fear. Being in total control defines itself as if I mess up I have to totally blame myself. How absurd is that? Its your life and you should always secure the captains seat. You are in control of the ship called “YOU”. When you’re in control your life is your playground and the path you choose can be as loose or rigid as you please. Learning your goals and what motivates you to never fear starting over when the path you develop doesn’t work. That’s redeveloping the blueprint. Think about it! When the foundation is weak the developers find ways to fix the issue by either starting over or strengthening the foundation. So why can’t we? F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote “For what its worth: Its never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not. I hope you have the strength to start over. Fitzgerald and I have the same attitude. When it doesn’t work just simply start over.

Let’s begin to practice “Starting Over”.

1. Find a area in your life where the plan you are using isn’t working and your goal seems to be fading away.

2. Find the alternative ways to make it work. Rework the goal…is it obtainable and what are the benefits of achievement.

3. Develop a new plan. Compare the old/new plans and decide if your new plan is able to help you flourish and help you live your best life.

4. Remember that it is a working document and should never be considered final.

Let’s work together to end the fear of starting over. Starting over is POWERFUL!
