“What are you most thankful for this year?”

As we approach Thanksgiving Day; we our focused on the massive amount of food we will consume and the shopping deals that are expected to happen on Black Friday. The conversation is always about the meals and the deals, but never about the real reason for Thanksgiving…being THANKFUL! “

thankLife throws us many curve balls and hits us below the belt to where all we can really do is call foul. We forget that life has no rule book and does not care if the going gets tough, because sometimes tougher is waiting around the corner. In the mist of those moments we rarely find the time to sit back and adopt the spirit of thankfulness. Celebrating the things we have instead of what we don’t have. Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable to seeing the good that we have been blessed with instead of the shortcomings that come day to day. Thanksgiving is in a few days and this time is designed for us to pause and embrace all that God has provided, to which we should be THANKFUL.

We have been programmed to value our wants over the satisfaction on what we already have. Understanding that having it all sometimes comes with a bigger price mentally and physically. We want more money, but money doesn’t always bring happiness. We want that new mansion, but will never enjoy the benefit of sharing it with others. We see bigger as better instead of less as more. Forgetting that God gives us exactly what we need and for that we should always be THANKFUL.

Living a thankful life even when we have nothing to be thankful for isn’t always easy, but very necessary. It is not always easy to give thanks, but this is the very thing we must do in order to see God’s promise in our lives. This is how we move into higher realms of faith for ourselves, for our families/friends, and for goals we have set-forth for prosperity. When we give thanks in the midst of difficulty, we bring a heart that is accepting of his plan and the sacrifice he made for us to live content and free.

I hope that this holiday provides you smiles around that table that remind you of the blessing of life and the power to see all you ever needed was the love and promise of God. Be thankful this season even in the mist of your storm and God’s Thanksgiving shall be bestowed upon you. Begin to create your ability to be forever THANKFUL!

mOOd: Thankful for it all even the things I don’t understand. Seeing that even in those moments there is something to be THANKFUL for.

  1. This piece resonated with me. I absolutely love this! As I am in the midst of a storm I must remind myself daily despite the unfairness if my situation I still need to be thankful! Thanks Rashid. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
